I am on a payment plan with the IRS for back taxes. Will I get a tax refund when I file my tax return?

The IRS will automatically apply your refund against any tax you owe. Any balance left over would be refunded. You should continue to make your regular installment tax payments as any refund is not considered to be a plan payment
